Waves are only a part of the ocean, not the ocean itself.

Our lives are like the waves, ever changing...
but who we are, our essence, our true nature - is like the ocean underneath the waves...

...this is where we want to dive while practicing restorative yoga.

What is restorative yoga?

Restorative yoga is a gentle practice, accessible to all body types, ages, and health conditions. In this practice we use a number of yoga props (blocks, bolsters, blankets, straps, and even chairs) to support the body in asanas. Instead of telling ourselves to relax (which in itself can create anxiety), we are creating a safe environment in the room and in our bodies for the nervous system to soften and let go. Restorative yoga practice is an invitation for the parasympathetic nervous system to take over,  allowing the body to heal and restore, rest and re-energize.

Is restorative yoga for me?

The three main principles of restorative yoga are:
  • Warmth
  • Silence
  • Darkness
If these words trigger unease, discomfort and fear, chances are your nervous system is running on high alert, or as we say - it's wound up.
We pay the price of living in a modern, western society by not sleeping enough, being constantly "on the go" and not having time to rest and press the reset button.
Why is one-on-one restorative yoga a great way to experience this practice?

• My focus is on you and you alone.
• Restorative Yoga is all about  paying attention to details.
• Props are placed and adjusted to your own individual needs and body.
• It is preferable that someone places the props than for you to struggle.
• I am there to hold the space for you, providing support and stability.

Please contact me if you wish to have a Restorative Yoga experience.
