"A caffè sospeso (pronounced [kafˈfɛ ssoˈspeːzo]; Italian for "suspended coffee") or pending coffee is a cup of coffee paid for in advance as an anonymous act of charity. The tradition began in the working-class cafés of Naples, where someone who had experienced good luck would order a sospeso, paying the price of two coffees but receiving and consuming only one. A poor person enquiring later whether there was a sospeso available would then be served a coffee for free. Coffee shops in other countries have adopted the sospeso to increase sales, and to promote kindness and caring in all communities"

How does it work
One day I watched a video about a coffee shop that introduced the tradition of a suspended coffee here in America. Immediately, I was inspired to apply a similar idea to the baby massage courses for parents. For each parent who pays for the course, I will set aside 10% from the tuition to assist future participants in financial need. This means that once 10 families pay for the course - one family who cannot afford the course will have the opportunity to attend.
This is not just a simple scholarship fund. The notion behind this act, is that once you have enjoyed and benefited from an experience, a natural desire is to want someone else to feel equally good and happy.
This is a way to add an additional layer of joy and mindfulness to each class we go through together.
This is a way to reward the courage of each parent who admits that money stands in their way of learning the IAIM program.
This is a way of reminding us human connections are more important than sheer numbers.
Soon, a scholarship fund will also be made available for those who are not attending the classes but wish to contribute and make it possible for even more families to receive this beautiful gift.
